Worth the Hype? New in Beauty

I’ve been forming a nice little stash of new beauty buys and this week I wanted to highlight some of these popular products to tell you if they are worth the hype or not. If you keep up with the beauty world, then you know that these products are really hot on the market right now! Keep on reading to read my brief review on each of the 7 products! Are they HOT or NOT?

Worth The Hype? New in Beauty

Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer

I’ve used this product only a few times but I will say it is very creamy (hence the name). Even though it’s creamy and great, it reminds me so much of my Maybelline Fit Me concealer that I already own and love. To be honest, it’s probably a dupe for it but my Fit Me concealer is actually better! I still love the Nars concealer and think it works great but my Fit Me just blends better… As crazy as that sounds (since one is $30 and the other is about $9) it’s the truth!

Truthfully, as long as the Fit Me concealer is still being sold and still works, I probably won’t buy this concealer again!

Elf Blush Kit in Dark

Coming from ALWAYS using a Mac Blush to now using a $6 blush set, I’m pretty freaking impressed! The color pay off is so great and a little truly goes a long way. I use the “Dark” set and the colors really do complement darker skin tones. Two of the shades also have a little glitter in them so they can create a blush and highlight effect if you apply it right.

Elf is really stepping up their game and I’m so excited to try more from them!

Mac’s Fix+ Spray

Okay, okay. I honestly added this in here as a joke because if you’ve been around since the beginning you know this stuff is like holy water to me. I won’t write a whole paragraph about the spray but just know I use this stuff for everything! (If you want to read more about this spray head over to this post) I’m so close to running out so I re-upped this month and I’m so giddy to start using my fresh, new bottle.

Jaclyn Hill Palette

This is one of the most highly anticipated/reviewed palettes out there right now! I was lucky enough to get my hands on it the first launch date and couldn’t wait to dive into it. Well… I’ve only really played with it once or twice since I got it over a month ago and I’m a little underwhelmed. Yes, the colors are gorgeous and swatch beautifully but the neutral colors on my dark skin just don’t pop. Even so, the shades are buttery and highly pigmented! I don’t own many palettes (besides my custom Z-palette) but this is a great palette to have because of its wide color range. I just hope I start to reach for it more…

Comment below if you’d like to see a Facebook/Instagram live of me playing with this palette!

Koko Lashes

I’ve always been a fan of KoKo Lashes and I recently saw that they came out with new lash styles. I, of course, had to pick some up and I got the styles Madame Wispy, Soho, and Misha. Each of these styles are pretty similar, but they vary in length and fullness. I love Madame Wispy because honestly, there is not a wispy lash that I don’t love. They are the perfect everyday lash and look great on just about any one.

Soho is a whole lotta lash! It is the longest & thickest of the three and kind of overpower my eyes. (TIP: If you have hooded or smaller eyes, long/fuller lashes may overpower your eyes and give you TOO much drama.) I love drama but on the right occasions.

Misha is the shortest of the two and mimics my favorite lashes of all time, Ardell Demi’s! They could probably be complete dupes for each other but I don’t mind! I love them both either way.

Of the three, Madame Wispy and Misha are my favorites. I will probably be giving Soho away to a family member to enjoy!

L’oreal Voluminous Lash Paradise

I decided to go ahead a snatch the new mascara from L’oreal everyone is talking about! It pretty much sealed the deal once I saw Jaclyn Hill talk about it on her Snapchat and I saw what it did to her lashes. This mascara didn’t provide much length to my lashes but it definitely did a great job of separating and volumizing. The mascara is basically a dupe for the Better than Sex mascara that is a known fan fave by Too Faced Cosmetics (& the packaging is so similar!). I personally think it works great and I believe it’s worth the $8!

Wet N Wild MegaGlo Highlighting Powder

This highlighter was introduced to me by Raven Elyse on her Snapchat story, a while ago (You can tell I’m highly influenced)! I didn’t quite believe that it would work that well, being that it’s a Wet N’ Wild product, but to my surprise, it is so pigmented! It doesn’t take much to get the product on the brush and it’s not too powdery or too glittery. The consistency is VERY creamy and not what I expected at all. I got the warmest gold of the shades (Crown of my Canopy) because I like warmer highlights more than pink/white highlighters. Overall, A++!

Worth the Hype? New in Beauty

I am definitely impressed with these products and can see why so many of them are so popular right now. None of the products were NOT’s (I’m very generous!) so they all have something about them that make them HOT!

Have you tried any of these products? If so, which ones are your favorite and why?! Let me know in the comments!

Until Next Time –

I used to love Mac mist spray but I started using elf’s instead due to the price point. #BLMGirls

Yeah, it has actually gone up in price which I’m sad about but I’m not quite ready to let go of it!

I’m shocked you don’t love the NARS concealer it’s my go to but everyone’s make up is different. However I’ve been going back and forth about trying the L’Oréal mascara and I think I’m convinced

    • August 1, 2017 / 5:57 pm

Don’t get me wrong, I love the concealer! I just have something similar to it. That plus the price point makes it not a must-have but it’s still great!

      Definitely try the mascara! (:

This was super helpful! I’ve been loving falsies lately so I’ll have to check the ones you mentioned out! I don’t like them super dramatic so I can relate!

    • August 1, 2017 / 9:30 pm

You’ll like them! They aren’t super expensive and they last a longggg time!

Loved reading your thoughts! And GIRL your blog is beautiful!! Makes me want a new theme haha. 🙂 I love FitMe concealer and Lash Paradise mascara as well. I have Fix+ but cannot make it work for me. I better read your linked posted so I can figure it out.

    • August 2, 2017 / 2:25 pm

Thank you so much! Those are the best compliments (:

Also, I’ve heard a few people say that Fix+ just didn’t work for them which is so interesting! I literally use it for everything and I find that it just primes and sets my face so well.

Awesome review! I’ve been super curious about the Jaclyn Hill palette!! Still on the fence about trying to buy one…

    • August 4, 2017 / 10:29 am

I bought it right when it came out and it’s nice! Just really contemplate if you’ll use it. I hate that it sits around more than me actually using it.

The palette product looks like a winner!

I will have to try these products. Just yesterday, I was telling my friend that I wanted to get more into makeup, creating a routine, and finding the most balanced products for me and my sensitive, dry skin. My only problem is having to kiss a few frogs before I find my prince (makeup), but I believe that I am up for the challenge.

    • August 4, 2017 / 10:32 am

Yes, trying out the products can be a pain but I always try to do some research before I buy (watch YouTube reviews). You can do it!

wow! great info here! i have hooded eyes and have a tough time with lashes!

    • August 4, 2017 / 2:55 pm

Same! I had to really investigate and learn what was right for my eyes! I hope my TIP helped you (:

  13. August 5, 2017 / 11:25 pm

Love your reviews! I don’t own too many palettes either and my skin ranges from neutral ivory to maybe a shade or two darker when I fake tan. So far I’ve been super pleased with the JH palette.

And the lash paradise was hyped so much that i didn’t like it at first, but now I am super on board after a week of trying it out.

And I’ve still been meaning to get my hands on the wet n wild highlighter!

    Loving your blog!

    • August 6, 2017 / 11:22 am

Thank you, Brittany! I’m so glad your palette is working for you! I’m just that odd one that can’t make it work 🤦🏾‍♀️

Get the highlighter! I get so impressed every time I use it lol

      XO

Definitely check them out! Thanks for reading (:

      KoKo Lashes are BOMB! They last a long time, as well. Paradise is very comparable to Better than Sex but Better Than Sex is still the best! (;
