A few days ago I was able to snag the Ruby Kisses Forever Matte Liquid Lipsticks at my local beauty supply store for $2.99 EACH! I’ve never owned nor tried a Ruby Kisses product but the packaging was so pretty and appealing (it reminds me of the Kylie Cosmetics lipsticks) so I decided to give them a try. Needless to say, I was totally surprised! Keep reading for my review on the new Ruby Kisses Forever Matte Liquid Lipsticks!
I picked up 6 colors from this collection to show and review for you guys on my blog. The whole collection is very pretty with the majority of the shades being neutral, muted colors with a few pops, here and there. These lippies have a creamy-satin application but dry super matte. Each shade I’ve tried has been very long-lasting and super build-able. For this review, I’ll start with the lightest shades I picked up and move my way towards the darkest.
This color is a a nice, warm nude and perfect for an ombre lip or paired with a chocolate brown lip liner. I didn’t have much hope for Dune when I first tested it but I wanted to have a nice nude to try for you all. Even though it takes a little bit of working with, (it can be a little patchy – I blame this on the wand applicator) it is definitely build-able and looks flawless once dried.
This is a muted hot pink (if that’s a thing?) and is the perfect color to mix with other shades. I love to mix and match shades together to form my PERFECT shade and this is a great one to do that with. It could also be great to wear alone (with a lip liner, of course) and has nice build-able coverage like Dune. This will probably be my go-to summer shade!
Ooo, HUNTY! This is MY color! I love mauve-y lips and this color surprised me so much! It applies perfectly and can be worn alone or with a lip liner. I also think this color is a great color for all skin tones and would compliment anyone. This is definitely my favorite shade out of all of them!
Nene looks more red in this picture but is actual a very dark reddish orange. I’ve worn this a few times already and love it for a perfect summer lippie with a pop! I don’t have any other color like this in my collection so I’m glad I snagged it at this price!
I don’t wear colors like this often so when I was purchasing it I was already second guessing myself BUT I decided to jump out of my neutral comfort zone and give it a go. I actually like the color. It’s also very creamy and workable and another great pop of color to do an ombre lip.
Ruby Kisses has two brown shades in this collection and this is the darkest of the two. I was in need of a nice dark chocolate matte lippie for the fall. This color is very patchy and takes a lot of work to get an even color, though. In order to get the best coverage, I recommend letting the first coat dry a little and then going back over your lips again to build it (TIP: I find that when I try to do layers and layers over wet lipstick it just moves the color around instead of making it darker).
Here are the shades when they are mostly dry
Overall, the collection is really great for it’s price. I think that everyone can find at least two shades that would really work for them. Also, the price of these lippies make it perfect for beginners looking to try liquid lipsticks (or lipsticks in general) to have something to play with! Even though I won’t be wearing all 18 shades in the collection, I think it has something for everyone and worth the price!
You can buy Ruby Kisses Forever Matte Liquid Lipsticks for $1.99, here or here (For some reason they are not listed on the Ruby Kisses website *Kayne Shrug*) You can also probably get them from your local beauty supply store.
Let me know if you’ve tried these lippies or want to! What’s your favorite shade?
Until Next Time –
