Once again, I’m late with my monthly favorites post. This last week or so has been super crazy for me and the blog (with the holiday and moving). I start my first round of graduate classes tomorrow so I’m still trying to get ready for that, all while trying to produce posts for you. I will prevail… in the Lord’s name, we pray.
In the spirit of June being over and July coming out to play, keep on reading for some of my favorite things over the last month!
So an artist named SZA came out with this crazy good album called “Ctrl” on June 9th… When I tell you that this album is FIRE, please believe me. I have listened to this record everyday (twice a day) since its came out and I can’t get enough! SZA has a sound like no one else’s. Her genre can be described as Alternative R&B or Neo Soul but either way she’s soooo good! She really is a great writer and singer and I love her! If you haven’t already, please go check her out! SZA’s album is available on Apple Music (because who really buys CD’s anymore?) if you’re interested!
Forever Matte Liquid Lippies
I won’t get too in-depth about these because I have a whole post dedicated to that (you can find it here). If you have read that post then you know I was totally shocked at the quality of these inexpensive liquid lipsticks. For the sake of this post, I’ll give an honorable mention to my fav out of the collection, Tippy Toe! Hey BOO!
Ivy Park Sandals
I was able to snag a pair of the IVY PARK sandals from Beyoncé’s athletic apparel line. I’ve been into slides lately (my Jandals are still my ride or die) so when I was buying these I already knew I would love them and I was right! They fit kind of snug so it’s recommended that you get a size up. I got a 7.5 (I wear a 7) and they are still kind of tight around the width of my foot. If you like a snug fit or your feet are very narrow then you’ll love these slides just the way they are. The truth is, I’m currently obsessed and can’t stop wearing them. I’m not very athletic but I love looking sporty with a pair of leggings, a t-shirt, and my slides! You can get these Ivy Park Sandals here.
Beauty Blender Pro
So last summer when I started my makeup journey I bought a “nude” Beauty Blender because y’all know I can’t be normal and get the basic products that everyone else loves (the most popular beauty blenders to get are the pink [Original] and the black [Pro] ones). Well I regretted it because after a few uses my beauty blender looked disgusting with my brown makeup splotched all over it. I stuck with it for a whole year and this month I finally purchased the black Beauty Blender Pro. Now let me tell you, the “Pro” compared to the “Original” is VERY noticeable. The pro just blends so much smoother and has a different bounce to it, personally. I prefer Beauty Blenders to other makeup sponges, anyway, but the pro definitely lives up to its name. You can get a Pro Beauty Blender here.
Your Lash Bar Lashes
If you follow me on Instagram then you’ve seen my post about the Your Lash Bar lashes that I have become recently obsessed with (see my Instagram post here). They are super inexpensive (at $6 a set/or $15 for 3 sets) and have some really cool lash designs. Currently, they only have 3 styles available but are gearing up to drop more styles soon. Your Lash Bar is a new company but I can see them going far in the future! My favorite style out of the current trio is Manhattan. You can check them out here.
I kind of feel bad for including this in my favorites but I deem it necessary because it is a true fav of the month! This nude clutch came from a store called WAX that only has two stores… in Texas…. Yeah, I know. If you do live in Texas, though, you can see the location of both stores here. Anyway, I had been looking for a super versatile clutch and lo and behold, I come across this store and find it! It retails for $20 and I snatched it up as soon as I could! I love it and you can see it in a recent Instagram post here.
Lush Face Mask – Cosmetic Warrior
(So I was not smart and threw away my LUSH container for this face mask before I could get a picture for this post BUT enjoy this picture of Mask of Magnaminty that I just picked up!)
This month was my first time trying the “Cosmetic Warrior” face mask from LUSH and I love it! The main target of the mask is to fight troubled skin. I honestly didn’t buy it for that because I don’t have troubled skin but it has tea tree oil in it, which I really love. It’s a fresh face mask so it’s only available to purchase in stores and has a shelf life of about 2 weeks (must be refrigerated). I loved the minty cold feeling it has while applying it to the skin. BE WARNED: this product does dry super fast and super hard. You’re only supposed to leave it on for about 5-10 minutes but it will certainly have you face feeling like a rock very quickly. Get it HERE!
I just bought the “Mask of Magnaminty” face and body mask to try in July! This one is much bigger and self-preserving, so it’ll last longer.
**Be sure to check the ingredients of any of the face mask you might want to try before purchasing. LUSH uses real ingredients (such as fruit, veggies, butters, and oils) so if you have an allergy to certain ingredients, use with caution.
& that’s it FOLKS! I try to keep these favorites to a minimum because we all know I can get a little word-y (opps) but I hope you enjoyed!
As always, let me know if you have tried any of these products and what you think about them in the comments!
Until Next Time –
